To me I want to show that you don't have to be a professional athlete or a musician to be considered successful in our culture. There are plenty of Polynesian people that are successful in their careers. There is nothing wrong with using sports or music to be a vehicle to do greater things such as attend the university or even reach better opportunities.
So in a sense of cultural communication we want to change that perception and attitude that Polynesians are only successful at sports and/or music. There are tons of successful Polynesians it is just a matter of finding and recognizing them. My hope on a larger scale of things, is to take this Facebook group and make it into an actual foundation that will one day have multiple scholarships to help fuel the dreams of the next generation.
